The Wynne government has announced Ontario will be subject to the pilot project of a basic minimum income before being considered as a national strategy. Liberals argue the implementation of such on the rational the current welfare system is not doing enough to elevate people (and families) from the grips of poverty.

Rooted in a sense of Scandinavian and European quasi-socialism, the merits of a minimum basic income may be a fairly interesting concept for Canadian Conservatives to consider. Partisanship aside, we as nation grow as Canadian families prosper. At the same time, doing such would set the necessary framework to reduce welfare abuse and wasteful social programs.
